Government Savings Bank
Prinya was assigned to the Technical Division
under the direction of Khun Nume Hemarat. Early
on they established a training program for the Bank
employees to upgrade their skills and enhance their
understanding of modern banking practices. One of
his first assignments was to act as junior colleague
to Mr. Harry Houston, an Englishman who was
sent by the United Nations to advise the Bank in
upgrading their accounting system.
It was during this period when on a Bank mission
he chanced upon some friends from Chula at the
Sweet Home Bakery in Korat. Among the party
was a young United States Peace Corps Volunteer
who was teaching English with them at the Korat
Teacher Training College. He recalled being
introduced to her by a mutual friend in Bangkok.
Perhaps fate played a hand in what pursued.
